Philips Design Talks: Electric tattoos

A few weeks back I wonder whether Philips was going to get more involved in community Second Life (reLink). Well, it just so happens I caught word that is leading a discussion group later today in the virtual world to discuss, curiously, “SKIN: Tattoos” (Link).

Some of you may remember me at some point mentioning Microsoft’s patent for using skin as an electrical conductor. He made the rounds in the news and blog, because I did some wearable computing design, I have my attention also. What you might not know is that the general idea has been around a while (Link). The latest discussions Li relates to the “print” RFID tags on soldiers and what not. Material interesting.

Anyway, that is what apparently did not have in mind Philips. Since the video above which I serendipitously stumbled after they apparently are curious about what sounds like the same type of technology to be used by the Amazon’s new electronic book Kindle: microspheres. There is a patent out there covering this kind of thing (Link), and my guess is that Philips is referencing it.

Wild things, to be sure, but from the reports I have read page refresh rate is very low. If that’s the case, nudist beaches will not have to worry about walking, talking, dancing baloney panels time soon.
